Halloween!

It seems I can only find time in my life to post once a month, lol. Such is the life of a toddler.
Anyway...here are some pics from our wonderful Halloween!

To share a little bit more about our Halloween, I thought I'd elaborate. This year, as in years past, I made Matthew's costume. I freehand-cut all the bones for the skeleton and then the white felt bones were hand-sewn using black thread onto the shirt and pants. I then added glow in the dark paint to the bones as well. It turned out to be my favorite costume ever! And I was a bit apprehensive about it at first, but he would not back down. He HAD to be a skeleton. Although he wanted to be a bloody skeleton. All impossibilities aside, I was not about to let my 7 year old go out with a bloody Halloween face. I have to draw the line somewhere, lol.

I made the neighbor's kid's costumes as well. You will see them in the slideshow. Cecilia was a veterinarian and Maddie our dog was her injured patient. You can imagine how long Maddie left those bandages on. It was funny while it lasted! Konrad was a cowboy complete with fringed chaps and vest. Those were fun to make, let me tell you.

Max was a dragon, which was a hand-me-down costume of Matthew's when he was of the same age. Nice and easy costume which kept him warm and cuddly. Max got to eat his first lollipop last night. It was so cute seeing him hold the stick with his mittens on. He was a trooper during our 3 hour treat-a-thon.

As the evening progressed the fog rolled in to make the evening just as perfect as it can be. The moon had the lovely orange glow around it too. Screams and giggles could be heard all around the neighborhood as well. What a fun night!

333 Books for Kids

Sorry, I know I haven't posted in awhile. (Crazy energetic toddler=no time for Mommy.) But have fun with the above link!

Too long

I apologize. It's been over a month since my last post! You can't really blame me, though. I DO have a toddler. I had forgotten how much of your everything a toddler demands. I love him more and more everyday. He continues to amaze us every moment as well as show us just how different he is from his brother. Polar opposites, even. Which means we're in for it. For many years to come. Enjoy some pics while you're here!

Corny

Max had his first taste of corn on the cob tonight!

And we let him go at it with the baked beans the other night...

"It was THIS big!"

Matthew went to Ohio with my parents this week. Among the many fun things they did on this trip, was fishing at my Uncle's farm. Matthew had never been fishing before and caught 4 fish! Of course, he had to have Paw Paw put the worm on the hook for him. Like Mother like Son.

Soul Vacation

I spent last weekend with 13 of my best friends and their families in the Great Smokey Mountains. What a weekend! I can't wait to do it again.

I apologize, dear readers. I have been enjoying the month of June as you will see in the slide shows to come. Alas, I have not forgotten you.

My boy, grown.

The day was April 19th. The occasion was the 7th birthday of my oldest son. The event was the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle party.
Revel in the funness that are the pictures below:

Gawsh! I wish I was a kid again.

What genius invented these?
More importantly, do they come in adult size?
Moon Shoes ROCK!

Would the above picture not make a perfect album cover?
What genius took this picture?

Baby Geek Alert

I heart geeks.
Especially if they have cute pudgy cheeks, an infectious smile, and a laugh to die for.

It happened. We said we wouldn't...

Max had his first french fry tonight. Sigh. We tried to hold off for so long, but he is so interested in everything we are eating. He grabbed one before I could take it back. Into the mouth it went. Sounds of satisfaction came from him. Well, I can't really blame him. They're my favorite too. Damn it.

Please shoot me if you see me purchasing one of these (I have to draw the line somewhere):

Out like a lion

Well, March went out like a lion for sure!

28 March 2006

Over and over and over

"Oh I love TRASH! Anything dingy or dirty or dusty!"

What's that I'm singing, you ask?

Well, it just so happens to be this:

Sing along with me kids!

"Rubber ducky, you're the one!"

Imitation?

Paw Paw exhibiting the fine art of feeding the baby boy.

It's been awhile

What do the boys look like these days? Well, I'm glad you asked! Here they are:

"Hey Mom, see that big bowl of candy over there? Mind if I have some?"

"Why not?"

He shoots!

He SCORES!

Memory Lane

On a late night romp through the internet, I came across one of those "Remember these?" sites. Gotta say...brought back quite a few memories. Makes me really wish I had more control over what my Mom sold in garage sales! Man, what I wouldn't give for all my Fisher Price Little People and accessories. Or all of my Star Wars figures and vehicles. Yeah, yeah, that's was Ebay is for.

A few nuggets of funness:

SNORKS!
Monchichi!
Jem and the Holograms!
What are some of your favorite childhood items you wish you still had?

PR

If you know who this is...you are just as cool as I am. He is totally gonna win. He's by far the best one and has consistently proven himself. I say no more as to not give myself away to all the unassuming readers. If you know...then you know. ;-)

Up Close and Personal

New Year's Resolution

HERE! HERE! A stolen entry from another blog...just had to post it here for all to read:

When my son brought me this to open for him, of course I agreed. But when I saw the packaging — the evil, evil packaging — I looked him in the eye and almost told him, “Son, there is no possible way this can be opened. It was obviously intended only to be admired in all of its packaged glory from afar, on a shelf. There’s just too much wire and tape and glue and Daddy has a finite lifespan. No, son, let’s leave it in the box and hang it on your wall as the sadistic packaging designer intended.” And then I went to find the wire cutters in the kitchen from the last box we opened.

It takes a lot of the fun out of ripping open a present, tearing open the box, and playing with your toy. Now the process is: rip open present, tear open box, get wire cutters or untwist the ties, pry toy out of box, peel tape off of everything, cut open shrink-wrapped bags and sealed plastic pouches, and ten minutes later you can actually play with the toy — but the kids have already gotten bored and have gone on to something else. What the hell, toy makers? I understand it makes everything look pretty in the box. I understand if the box looks pretty it’s more likely to sell. But are you so short-sighted that you really don’t care what happens to the package once it is paid for? Don’t you care that opening these god-forsaken packages is an awful experience that young children don’t have any fun doing and that they are often physically incapable of opening their own toys?
Here’s a New Year’s resolution for you: I resolve to buy less packaging, especially packaging that makes my life harder.

Merry Holidays!
